Tips, corrections, advertising and jobs: which inbox to write to, who reads it and how quickly they answer.

Every inbox below is read by a person on the desk, not a filter. We answer tips and corrections first. Please write in English if you can; our reporters also read Spanish, German, Dutch, French and Japanese.

Tips

If you work on a ship, in a port, at a mine, a refinery or a trading house and have seen something we should know about, write to tips@example.com. Tell us what you saw, when, and how you know. A document, a photo or a ship's name helps us check it quickly. We never name a source without their agreement, and we will tell you before we publish anything that relies on what you sent.

For anything sensitive, say so in your first message and a reporter will suggest a safer way to talk.

Corrections

Found a mistake? Write to corrections@example.com with the link to the story and what you believe is wrong. The editor on duty reviews every request within one working day. When we correct a story, we note the change at the foot of the page, as our corrections policy describes. Questions about the Break Freight Index or the Chokepoint Tracker go to data@example.com.

Advertising

We sell a small number of placements on the site and in the Morning Manifest newsletter, and we label every one of them. Our reporters never write sponsored content. For rates and dates, write to advertising@example.com.

Careers

We hire rarely and slowly, and we look for people who have worked in the industries we cover as well as for trained reporters. Open roles are posted on this page. If there are none and you think we should meet you anyway, send a short note and three pieces of your work to careers@example.com.
